A winter storm watch will be in affect for portions of central North Dakota and the James River Valley beginning this afternoon.
A system moving eastward from Montana will intensify and begin to impact North Dakota this afternoon. The most heavily impacted areas are likely to be near Bismarck, in Stutsman County, and the southeastern parts of the state. Snow forecasts increased overnight, with now a 60% chance of at least six inches of snow, and over eight inches possible in some areas.
Heavy winds will bring snow drifts and make travel very hazardous in the overnight hours with gusts of up to 45 miles per hour and sustained winds from 15 to 20 mph.
