Interview with Enderlin head coach Beau Diegel

After senior Aspyn Schlecht hit a free throw with just three-tenths of a second remaining in the fourth quarter, the Enderlin girls basketball team sealed a comeback win over Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 36-35 on Friday night.

“I just wanted us to get a shot off before time expired,” Enderlin head coach Beau Diegel said. “We got the ball down the sideline. There was girls kind of all over. They end up calling a foul and we knocked enough free throws down to get a W.”

The Eagles (3-5) struggled to get baskets for much of the game, but did just enough to beat the Imperials (2-6) behind Jana Olson’s 13 points. The freshman hit five shots from the field and one from three. Enderlin trailed by nine deep into the third quarter before making a run to make the game close.

“We said before the game about 40 points would probably be the winning score and it was even under that,” Diegel said. “Both teams played good defensively.”

Enderlin will play LaMoure-Litcvhille/Marion in a home game at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter will be back at home on Monday night for a 7:30 p.m. contest with Kidder County.
