In what was the biggest win on the first day of the Barnes County Boys Basketball Tournament, the LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes beat the Enderlin Eagles on Tuesday, 62-29.
“Our guys played hard. All 11 guys were able to play significant minutes. [We] played with some different rotations. So, there’s always positives there,” LaMoure-Litchville/Marion head coach Tyler Thielges said.
The Loboes were led in part by Gunner Thielges. The two-sport athletes physical versatility showed up in the paint like it did on the gridiron, earning him 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Brayan Karlgaard finished with a team leading 20 points.
“I’m a big believer, and I think other coaches in our athletic department are big believers in the multi-sport athlete. For sure, it helps our physicality on the court. It helps them be more prepared because their getting coached up all year round,” Thielges said.
No. 7 Enderlin will have the earlier game on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Eagles will face No. 3 Maple River. No. 2 LaMoure-Litchville/Marion will face No. 6 Barnes County North at 7:30 p.m.
