Powerschool data breach made North Dakota student Social Security numbers vulnerable

More details have emerged on the specific information that may have been leaked in the Powerschool data breach. Powerschool became aware of the breach on December 31st, but it wasn’t until Tuesday, January 7th, that North Dakota school districts were briefed on the issue, and notified that the breach was nationwide. Information like Social Security numbers, medical information, and home addresses may have been exposed. Powerschool is working with cybersecurity experts to assess the situation, and they emphasize that the threat has been contained, and that it is unlikely this extracted information will be used to cause harm.
