Zero NDSU Bison Players Hit Transfer Portal After FCS Championship Win

In recent years, the College Football Transfer Portal has become one of the key parts in building teams… and can also aid in the destruction of a team.

The transfer portal can both be very beneficial and a pain to College Football teams, players, and its fans. In good ways, the portal can give a play a better opportunity somewhere else on a team that could his or hers services more than the team they’re currently on, or give them a better chance to play at the professional level.  And depending on the amount of money sponsors and alumni are donating towards the team, the more money a team has to offer a player, the better the players you can get.  (I.E. Oregon, Ohio State, Texas)

In bad ways however, the portal has turned College Football into a cash grab, as well as taking away the loyalty of players committing to a team for more than year. More times than none, players are transferring because of the highest bidder contacting an agent, and wanting them to play for another team.

The NDSU Bison however, have not had any issues with players transferring to that highest bidder, or wanting to find a different opportunity somewhere else, after their FCS Championship win over Montana State over a week ago.

Players had a small window after the game to transfer, and recent reports indicate no Bison players projected to be on next years team are going anywhere.

Some Bison players that others were maybe thinking about heading to a bigger and better (Does it get better than winning Championships at NDSU every year?) opportunity actually took to social media to say that no, they wouldn’t be transferring, but they would in fact be, “Running it back”

Stars of the Bisons 10th Championship Win this season including Bryce Lance, Logan Kopp, and Enock Sibomana indicated they would be staying with the Bison next season in an attempt to now bring home the Bisons 11th National Title.

One asterisk on the transfer portal for the Bison this year was All-Conference Safety Cole Wisniewski who missed this season with a foot injury that required surgery as the season was about to kickoff, Wisniewski announced he was transferring to Texas Tech, but his announcement came before the end of the regular season, and also didn’t play a snap for the Bison this year.

The Bison now have some of the main stars back to run it back for that 11th Championship run, but one question that will linger over the Bison this offseason is a question that has been asked dating back to the Brock Jensen days, is who will fill the shoes next as the Bisons Starting quarterback? The Bison have quite the lineage of quarterbacks in recent years with Brock Jensen, Carson Wentz, Easton Stick, Trey Lance, and Cam Miller. The Bison after Millers assumed exit would have Cole Payton returning from injury, Nathan Hayes, and Trey Drake.
