A 2001 Honda CRV was headed northbound on I-29 when the driver lost control on the icy highway and overturned into the east ditch, according to reports from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The rollover took place nearly four miles south of Buxton. Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle. The patrol said it was not obvious who was driving the vehicle, but the 74-year-old man was lifted to the Sanford Hospital in Fargo. The 39-year-old woman from Minot did not survive.
The patrol said neither of the two were wearing seat belts and airbags were not deployed. The crash remains under investigation.
