NDSU’s Zabel Turning Heads at Senior Bowl Practices

The first practice at the Reese’s Senior Bowl is in the books, and one NDSU lineman is making his name known, and perhaps raising his draft stock a little more.

The Senior Bowl is an “All-Star” Game that features college seniors and players that are planning on entering the draft in the coming year. Its a chance for NFL coaches, scouts, and media to see the players up close and see what they could bring to a team in the following year. Many Superstars in the league have had help from the Senior Bowl in getting picked in the upcoming draft that year, including former San Diego Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers, Buffalo Bills all time great Thurman Thomas, Miami Dolphins legend Dan Marino, and many more.

Senior right tackle Grey Zabel has looked exceptional in front of coaches, scouts and media with multiple outlets praising his abilities during drills and live reps after 1 day. During the practices that featured 1-0n-1 drills Zabel, who played right tackle at NDSU was moved inside to the guard and center positions and shined as if he was playing his original position, setting his feet getting hands on his defender and locking him down until the whistle blew.

After the good showing on Day 1, and presumably the rest of the Senior Bowl practices and game, Zabel has been projected to be a possible candidate for the #1 prospect of interior offensive lineman as well as becoming a Top 50 pick.

NDSU has a history of offensive lineman in the league that amounted to pretty good careers, former lineman including Billy Turner, Cody Mauch, and Cordell Volson and many more.

We’ll keep you updated on Zabel’s performance in other practices as well as how he does during the actual Senior Bowl Game!
