Senate Bill 2264 redefines marriage to reflect a union between two consenting adults, irrespective of gender. The bill would also remove language including husband and wife from the constitution to recognize other forms of marriages and unions in North Dakota.
One supporter of the bill, Senator Ryan Braunberger, says that the bill aims to ensure every married couple is afforded the same rights and respect.
The bill is pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee and is waiting for a vote there.
