In a 31-to-15 vote, Senators in Bismarck passed a bill that would limit North Dakota Game and Fish’s power to ban baiting. Senate Bill 2137 will move to the North Dakota house.
If passed, it would stop NDGF from implementing rules keeping private landowners from using supplemental feed on their property.
Opponents argue this weakens Game and Fish’s power to limit the spread of diseases like Chronic Wasting Disease. Supporters of the bill argue the department shouldn’t have any say in what private landowners do on their land.
