The North Dakota State Senate passed a measure to eliminate the North Dakota Gaming Commission.   The proposal narrowly passed on a 25-21 vote, and would place all authority to regulate gambling in the state with the Attorney General.

Supporters of the bill point to the Commission having not met in the past year as a sign it should be disbanded.   Opponents argue the bill puts too much power in the hands on the Attorney General.   Senate Bill 2224 now heads to the state House.

Governor Kelly Armstrong has not publicly expressed his full views on the bill, but supporters of the bill indicated Armstrong’s support of eliminating certain government agencies.
