North Dakota State University (NDSU) Extension will host its annual calving school on March 20, 2025, at the North Central Research Extension Center near Minot, ND.

Running from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the workshop is designed for both experienced and novice cattle producers to improve their calving knowledge and skills.

Key topics include preparing for calving, recognizing normal and abnormal births, proper newborn calf care, and optimizing nutrition during late gestation and early lactation. A hands-on session using a cow and calf model will allow participants to practice handling calving complications, enhancing their ability to manage challenging situations.

The event is free to attend and includes lunch, but registration is required to ensure proper preparation.
