News has come out that the College Football Playoff is looking to expand again after jumping this year’s bracket from the prior four to the current 12 teams. League executives from both the SEC and Big Ten are building momentum in these conversations, and the FBS could see an expansion from 14 or even 16 teams.

There is also rising belief that the expansion would include more automatic qualifiers for each league, possibly giving some teams in the power conferences more chances to make the playoffs. Rumors have also circulated that conference championships could be removed and no longer exist.

No official move has been made to expand the playoff or change the current conference championship format.
