Its tournament time in North Dakota, and the city of Jamestown will continue their fun after a successful District 2 tournament held last weekend.
The Class B Region 1 Girls basketball tournament will begin today (February 24th) with teams from District 1, and District 2 squaring off, for a shot at State.
The following matchups are in the opening round of the Region 1 tourney, and will be LOSER OUT Games to begin.
1. D2 #1 Linton HMB (Lions) vs. D1 #4 Wyndmere/Lidgerwood (Warbirds)
- Linton HMB defeated Lamoure Litchville Marion in the District 2 Championship and enters as District 2’s number 1 seed.
- Wyndmere Lidgerwood defeated Richland in the Regional Qualifier to enter as District 1’s number 4 seed.
- These teams did not play each other in the regular season.
2. D1 #2 Sargent County (Bulldogs) vs. D2 #3 Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier (Rebels)
- Sargent County lost to Maple River in the District 1 Tournament Championship and enters the tournament as District 1’s number 2 seed.
- EKM defeated Ellendale in the Regional Qualifier to enter as District 2’s number 3 seed.
- EKM defeated Sargent County 52-41 on January 18th in the regular season.
3. D1 #1 Maple River (Raiders) vs. D2 #4 Kidder County (Wolves)
- Maple River defeated Sargent County in the District 1 Tournament Championship entering the tournament as District 1’s number 1 seed.
- Kidder County defeated Napoleon Gackle-Streeter in the Regional Qualifier to enter as District 2’s number 4 seed.
- These teams did not play each other in the regular season.
4. D2 #2 Lamoure-Litchville Marion (Loboes) vs. D1 #3 Oakes (Tornadoes)
- Lamoure-LM lost to Linton-HMB in the District 2 Tournament Championship and enters as District 2’s number 2 seed.
- Oakes defeated Tri-State in the Regional Qualifier to enter as the tournaments District 1 number 3 seed.
- Lamoure-LM defeated Oakes 60-45 on February 6th in the regular season.
