Jackie Shroyer, a former Detroit Lakes resident and mother of five, has been officially charged as a “co-author” of the October 25th, 2024 murder of her husband, Beau Shroyer. This comes as a result of a months-long process of coordinating with Angolan officials and international organizations. The court date has not been set yet, but will likely occur within the next six months. Beau worked as a police officer in Detroit Lakes, until he and his family moved to serve as missionaries in Angola. A story released by the Angolan Press Agency alleged that Jackie Shroyer was the “mastermind” behind the murder of her husband, which she paid a group of Angolan men $50,000 to carry out. Beau was lured to a remote area by the suspects, who pretended their engine had failed, and was then murdered with a knife Beau himself had given a security guard while Jackie waited off-site. There are strong suspicions of a romantic relationship between Jackie and the security guard who has been charged, according to Superintendent of Criminal Investigation Manual Halaiwa.
