North Dakota State loses first, wins second game of Sunday doubleheader

The North Dakota State Bison baseball team dropped the first game of a Sunday doubleheader in the Texas trip to Texas Rio Grande Valley on Sunday, 10-3.

Victor Loa earned the win over the Bison and pitcher Nolan Johnson was given the loss. UT Rio Grande Valley’s Thomas Williams went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Shortstop Isaac Lopez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs, as well. NDSU’s Colten Becker hit a three-run home run to help him go 2-for-3 with a run scored.

In the second game, the Bison won 7-5 behind three RBI from DH Noah Gordon, who blasted a home run.

After starter Logan Knight, the Bison did not allow a run. UT Rio Grande Valley’s Steven Oliva was given the loss for allowing three runs in two innings. The Bison are now 1-6 on the year while UTRGV is 4-2.

NDSU is back in action on Friday at Alabama, first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
