Car Hits Deer, Ignites in Flames on I-29 in Richland County

A car caught fire in Richland County after striking a deer.

The incident happened Monday at 5:40 a.m. on I-29 near Mooreton. The driver struck the deer, which the man said had jumped out unexpectedly in front of the vehicle, according to reports.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Mooreton Fire Department, and ambulance services responded to the scene.

The car was eventually extinguished, but was considered a total loss. The driver escaped unharmed.
