Vikings fans may be able to put their mind at ease when it comes to the question who will be the starting quarterback next year for the team.
After 2024 starter Sam Darnold packed his bags and headed to Seattle, the Vikings were left with answering the question of who would be the starter for next years team.
Many fans supported the idea giving the reigns to 2024 Top 10 Draft Pick JJ McCarthy, but thoughts and concerns entered the mind about the youth of McCarthy and of course the injury possibility after his rookie season was ended in a flash after a torn meniscus during a preseason game.
With the uncertainty and questions entered the talk of the Vikings possibly bringing in 4x MVP and Super Bowl Champion Aaron Rodgers who was let go by the New York Jets, and could follow the same path as Brett Favre in the late 2000’s by joining the Vikings.
Per Sources, those possibilities have been put to rest and it is said that the Vikings will roll with JJ McCarthy entering the 2025 season.
McCarthy enters the season with a great supporting cast around him, with one of the best wide receiver groups in the league as well as a beefed up and retooled offensive line that the Vikings addressed during Free Agency, also not to mention the reigning NFL Coach of the Year making the play calls and developing him during the offseason and in training camp.
The Vikings still however may join the sweepstakes for an experienced veteran backup incase the spotlight is too big for McCarthy or the injury bug bites again, but the Vikings avoided a complete freight train of media coverage, and exposure by letting Rodgers make his decision to go elsewhere, and placing their belief in the kid they traded up for, and think can get them to a spot the Vikings have yet to reach, and that is hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
