By Ryan King Mar 19, 2025 | 10:08 AM

The USDA has announced the rollout of the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP), which will distribute $10 billion in financial relief to commodity producers affected by 2024 crop losses.

Enrollment begins on March 19, with payments reaching farmers within three business days of application processing. The aid, funded by the American Relief Act of 2025, is intended to help farmers manage rising costs and market uncertainties.

Eligible commodities include corn, soybeans, wheat, sorghum, cotton, rice, barley, oats, peanuts, and various oilseeds and pulses. Payments will be based on 2024 planted acres, with prevented-planting acres counted at 50% of reported losses.
