
The New Rockford-Sheyenne (NRS) Rockets beat the North Border Eagles 46-38 in the consolation semifinals of the Division B Boys State Basketball Tournament in Minot on Friday night.
“We talked about it, ‘you are guaranteed two more games,” NRS head coach Tyler Cook said when talking about his seniors on the team. “Don’t leave anything on the floor and I feel like them kids really sold out today.”
The Rockets win ended the second day of the tournament, which came after No. 6 Hankinson beat No. 7 Oakes 51-46. Before the two consolation games, No. 1 Wilton-Wing lost 54-48 against No. 4 Westhope/Newburg and No. 3 Bishop Ryan downed No. 2 Our Redeemer’s 61-56 in overtime.
Saturday will start with the seventh place game between Oakes and North Border at 1:00 p.m. After, Hankinson and NRS will determine who finishes fifth in the tournament. The third place game between Our Redeemer’s and Wilton-Wing will start at 6:00 p.m. The championship game between Bishop Ryan and Westhope/Newburg will go at 8:00 p.m. from the Minot State Dome.
All games will be broadcast live on KSJB radio. The pregame show of Oakes vs. North Border starts at 12:40 p.m.
