
Behind a packed crowed at the Minot State Dome, the Bishop Ryan Lions defeated the Westhope/Newburg Sioux 52-33 to win the Division B Boys Basketball State Championship on Saturday night.
Bishop Ryan (27-3) was led in points by Jett Lundeen, who scored 14 with two 3-pointers. Westhope/Newburg’s (24-6) Walker Braaten scored 18 to lead the Sioux.
Earlier on, Our Redeemer’s defeated Wilton-Wing 82-55 to earn third place. Fifth place was won by New Rockford-Sheyenne, who beat Hankinson 59-57. North Border took down Oakes in two overtimes, 70-68 to claim seventh place.
Braaten and Hunter Tolstad were named to the State All-Tournament team for Westhope/Newburg. Lundeen and Ramsey Walz were named to the team for Bishop Ryan. The 6-foot-7 center Walz was also named the Tournament MVP.
