As first reported by the Jamestown Sun, the Jamestown Salvation Army received a transformative gift of 236 acres of farmland Thursday, appraised at $900,000, from an anonymous donor. The bequest will establish an endowment to provide sustained annual funding for the service center, supporting its efforts to address food insecurity, rental assistance, utility help, and emergency housing in Stutsman County. Jerry Bergquist, chairman of the advisory board, described the gift as extraordinary, noting it will enable the organization to grow and continue serving vulnerable community members. In the short term, the farmland will be leased, with lease income saved until a long-term decision is made.
