The North Dakota Legislature approved a resolution which would call on the federal government to help protect the wild horses that roam at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 4006 asks Congress to enact legislation that would protect the nearly 200 horses. The House approved the resolution on Tuesday with an 87-4 vote after the Senate passed it by a voice vote in February. Supporters believe the herd should be preserved for their historical value and ability to attract tourism.

There was no further discussion before the chamber advanced the resolution.
