Minnesota Twins drop first game of season at St. Louis, 5-3

The Minnesota Twins lost their opening day game against the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday, 5-3.

Minnesota never held a lead in the game and starter Pablo López took the loss in five innings. Cardinals starter Sonny Gray went five innings, allowing just two runs to pick up the win. Outfielder Harrison Bader hit a home run for the Twins while the Cardinals left fielder Lars Nootbar notched a two-run home run.

The series resumes on Saturday at 1:15 p.m.
