The North Dakota Senate passed House Bill 1283 on Monday. The bill would prohibit health insurance coverage provided through the Public Employees Retirement System or PERS from imposing a deductible, copayment, coinsurance or other requirement that results in out-of-pocket costs for diagnostic or supplemental breast examinations.
This would include mammograms procedures, MRIs and ultrasounds for breast cancer. The bill was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee after passing through the House with a 66-26 vote despite receiving a recommendation not to pass from the House Appropriations Committee.
A hearing date has not been announced yet.
