The Minnesota Department of Health will lay off 170 employees after the federal government pulled $226 million of funding from the state health agency.
The agency also sent “at risk” notices to 300 employees. These employees will be “at risk for layoffs due to seniority rules around layoffs.” 20 would-be employees had their job offers rescinded. The Minnesota Department of Health immediately suspended its partner-led vaccine clinics and emergency preparedness activities and the INSPIRE Program for middle and high school students.
Health officials have blamed President Trump’s administration for the layoffs admin the ongoing effort of the administration to slash federal funds, which has led to layoffs in several government groups around the nation.
