North Dakota State University and University of Minnesota Sugar beet experts rolled out a new harvesting machine that can increase energy efficiency as well as simplify the harvesting process of sugar beets .
The previous machine was thought to be manufactured in the 1960s, the new machine is built by Beamco, and uses Amity Technology Parts.
Currently the researchers harvest 35 hundred two row 30 foot plots annually, and previously would take up to 9 people to help harvest, the new machine is projected to limit that number of users, and efficiently harvest the crop.
