Over 50,000 deer gun licenses were made available to hunters in 2024 and those with guns had a success rate of 55% in North Dakota.
There were approximately 27,000 bow hunters, and 22,000 harvested deer last season, making a success rate of 26%. There were less than 1,000 muzzleloader licenses available, but 790 muzzle-load hunters found success for a rate of 29%.
According to North Dakota Game and Fish Outreach Biologist Doug Leier, numbers are down compared to previous years, with one of the reasons for that being a loss of deer habitats.
