A North Dakota judge dismissed charges against Shane Al Randall on Friday, who was accused of impersonating an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer at Williams County Correctional Center in Williston. Judge Sjue ordered the return of Randall’s iPhone and $3,000 bond. The dismissal followed the prosecutor’s motion to drop the case citing “prosecutorial discretion,” though no specific reason was provided in the judge’s order. Court documents show jail staff released an inmate to Randall, believing he was an ICE agent. The deception was discovered when the actual ICE officer arrived later. Both Randall and the inmate were subsequently arrested. Randall had pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge in February.
