George Jerome was taken into custody Thursday morning after an overnight manhunt. The search began Wednesday evening around 6:00pm when Barnes County deputies responded to a security camera alert of attempted equipment theft. They found an abandoned vehicle in a ditch and arrested one suspect while Jerome fled. Search efforts continued until 2:00am before being temporarily suspended. Around 7:00am Thursday, Jerome was located in a row of trees after a Steele County resident reported seeing him in their backyard. The US Marshal Service assisted in the search. Jerome had several outstanding warrants, including one for burglary.
