Former North Dakota Sen. Ray Holmberg will not appeal his 10-year prison sentence for traveling to Prague to sexually abuse boys, his attorney confirmed Wednesday. The longtime Grand Forks Republican had until Wednesday to challenge the sentence. Holmberg pleaded guilty in August 2023 after being federally charged for multiple trips to Prague between 2011-2016. Despite prosecutors recommending roughly three years imprisonment, Judge Dan Hovland determined this was insufficient. Holmberg remains in custody awaiting transfer to federal prison.
