South Bow plans to restart the Keystone oil pipeline Monday, following a spill in North Dakota that shut down operations last week. The company completed repairs at the site near Fort Ransom and received approval from federal regulators. The 3,500-barrel (147,000-gallon) spill occurred when an employee heard a “mechanical bang” and shut down the pipeline within two minutes. Cleanup crews had recovered 1,170 barrels as of Friday. The company will implement reduced operating pressures and 24/7 monitoring during restart. The 2,689-mile pipeline, which carries crude oil from Alberta to U.S. refineries, was shut down from Canada to Illinois and Oklahoma, though the Oklahoma-Texas segment remained operational. Energy analysts note that falling oil prices due to recent tariff issues have minimized the spill’s impact on gas prices.
