The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education unanimously appointed Brent Sanford as interim Chancellor of the North Dakota University System Monday. Sanford, who had been interim president of Bismarck State College since January, replaces Mark Hagerott, who retires April 29. Dan Leingang, BSC’s vice president for academic affairs, will serve as the college’s interim president. Sanford, North Dakota’s former lieutenant governor (2016-2023), pledged to focus on workforce challenges and campus collaboration. Board Chair Tim Mihalick cited Sanford’s business and government experience as valuable for meeting community needs.
