RON JORDAN, KSJB LOCAL NEWS –

It’s Halloween and in honor of the Great Pumpkin we look at some statistics from the Indiana Pumpkin Growers’ Association.  Out of the 69 states, countries, and provinces represented, New York finished as the state with the largest pumpkins on average in the country. With an average weight of 2,365.2 lbs, the Empire State finished second overall behind the United Kingdom (2,415.9 lbs). The heaviest pumpkin on the list in the U.S. — and the world — was grown in Minnesota last year by Travis Gienger and weighed 2,749 lbs. He also has the third-largest pumpkin on record in the U.S. with a 2,560 lb pumpkin that he grew in 2022.
