North Dakota is on pace to break 2020 voter turnout numbers. According to the Secretary of State’s Office, more than 114-thousand North Dakotans have already cast their ballots. In 2020, the state had more than 364-thousand people vote. Secretary of State Michael Howe says presidential elections usually have higher turnouts, but ballot issues are likely getting more people to vote. Howe says having recreational marijuana on the ballot might bring in a subset of voters who don’t typically vote in presidential elections.
