For the first time since its expansion to 12 teams, the College Football Playoff Committee has selected it’s first set of rankings for the teams entering a new look for the end of the year tournament.
Four Teams will get a first week bye, similar to the NFL’s one and two seeds getting a bye for each conference, and the 5-12 teams will battle it out in the first round to see who moves on to the next round. This new expansion gives more teams a chance for a “Cinderella Story”, and also takes off the pressure of teams having one to two losses on their resume.
The First Poll Selection goes as shown.
Top Four:
- Oregon
- Ohio State
- Georgia
- Miami
5-12:
5. Texas
6. Penn State
7. Tennessee
8. Indiana
9. BYU
10. Notre Dame
11. Alabama
12. Boise State
IF the playoff started today, we would be blessed with some really good matchups to start off this first year of the format
The following Matchups would be played if the season ended today.
Oregon, BYU, Georgia, and Miami would each have the first bye, due to them being the current conference leader(Big 10, Big 12, SEC, ACC).
8 Indiana @ 7 Tennessee
12 Boise State @ 5 Ohio State
10 Notre Dame @ 7 Penn State
11 Alabama @ 6 Texas
