A former city auditor in Emerado, North Dakota is facing jail time after admitting to stealing taxpayer money.
Wendy Sullivan admitted in court that she stole nearly $115,000 to pad her own salary and for personal expenses. That included $90,000 raises for herself. The thefts occurred during the 12 years when Sullivan served as Emerado’s City Auditor. Sullivan is now going to jail, with Grand Forks County Judge Kristi Venhuizen ordering her to 60 days incarceration and nearly $90,000 in restitution. The Judge rejected a request for the jail sentence to be served in Rosseau, Minnesota where Sullivan currently resides.
