An explosion and various leaks have caused tens of thousands of lost gallons of oil in North Dakota this past week.

A tank explosion near Ray in Williams County caused over 17,000 gallons of oil to spill last Friday.    The tank was operated by Hess Corp. and nobody was injured in the blast.

There was also a leak at a tank overflow near Maxbass in Bottineau County on Saturday that spilled over 8,000 gallons of oil.  That site is operated by Scout Energy Corps.

Clean up efforts in partnership with state agencies are underway, and some of the spilled oil has been recovered according to reports.
