The Jamestown Police Department says they shot and killed a man who was reportedly carrying a rifle and a knife in downtown Jamestown.

The incident began outside of Fred’s Den around 1:00 a.m. after the man had allegedly been kicked out of the bar after an altercation.  JPD was en-route to respond when another caller reported shots fired at the bar.

A statement from JPD says responding officers tried to get the suspect to drop the weapons, and after alleged non-compliance they fired their weapons and shot the man.   The officers reportedly rendered aid then transported him to Jamestown Regional Medical Center where he died.

The responding officers have been placed on administrative leave, and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating.   The name of the suspect has not been released.

This is a developing story, and KSJB Radio will update when more details are learned.
