The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality was notified of industrial spills that occurred on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Jomax Construction Company reported a spill of around 10,000 gallons of bentonite on Wednesday, the product use for its pipeline drilling project in McKenzie County. The spill reportedly impacts a dry creek bed about 6 miles southeast of Watford City. Thursday’s spill occurred in Billings County, about 15 miles northwest of Belfield. Approximately 10,920 galls of produced water were released in a pipeline leak that was monitored by the Scout Energy Management LLC.

The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality is inspecting and investigating both spills.
