North Dakota Legislature Is In Session

North Dakota’s 69th Legislature began their session today. They are drafting bills addressing a wide range of issues until January 20th.

The legislative session will tackle key issues. property tax reform dealing with potentialcaps and credits, revisions to abortion laws, potentially allowing abortions up to 15 weeks with exceptions, K-12 education funding including free meals and “school choice,” increased transparency for the Legacy fund with possible Chinese divestment, and addressing criminal justice and mental health needs with State Hospital funding.

Over 1,000 bills are anticipated, and lawmakers have 80 days after the last bill is drafted to approve or deny them.
