A high speed pursuit in Burleigh County has left one person seriously injured.

The Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department says they were questioning a woman at the Bismarck Impound Lot Tuesday afternoon when she told them her license was suspended and then fled the scene in her car.   The Department says deputies then pursued the woman onto I-94 westbound where she began travelling speeds of up to 100 miles an hour while driving near New Salem.

The driver then made a U-turn in the median and tried travelling back towards Bismarck but was stopped when she drove over spike strips.   Her vehicle then struck cushion barrels before hitting a concrete at a bridge.

She was seriously injured and transported the hospital where she was placed under arrest.  She faces charges of DUI and fleeing a police officer.
