A church fire in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on Tuesday has been extinguished, and the damage is being assessed.
Initial estimates expect damage to exceed $500,000 at the Our Lady of Victory Church. There is a school attached to the main church building, which also had to be evacuated around 9:00 a.m. when the blaze began. Fire crews report significant damage to the roof, office, and sanctuary areas of the church. Fire doors between there and the school kept fire damage from spreading there.
Investigators believe the initial cause was a generator in the basement. One firefighter was injured by falling debris. The investigation and damage assessment in ongoing.
