A major grass fire erupted Wednesday afternoon in Adams County, North Dakota, prompting emergency assistance from neighboring South Dakota. The Lemmon Fire Department responded to the blaze, which began just after 1:00 PM north of Lemmon. Wind conditions complicated firefighting efforts, with gusts reaching 39 miles per hour in the Lemmon area at the time of the fire. More than 10 fire departments from both North and South Dakota were mobilized to combat the spreading flames. The fire caused significant property damage, destroying several structures including a hunting lodge. At the most recent update, crews had achieved approximately 70 percent containment, though the fire had already consumed over 4,000 acres of land. North Dakota authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
