The World Boxing Council (WBC) has come to a decision to ban star boxer Ryan Garcia, after Garcia was heard in a livestream making racial slurs towards African Americans and Muslims.

The President of the WBC Mauricio Sulaiman commented on the recent events saying, “We reject any form of discrimination,” Also saying. “I fear for Ryan’s well being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse.”

Garcia and his team had a chance to comment on the recent banning, posting on X, “I was trolling I want all the killing to stop,” Garcia wrote. “I love everyone sorry if I offended you.” With his family also stating, “Our family unequivocally does not support any statements [Garcia] has made regarding race or religion — these do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised. Those who know Ryan can attest to this fact. Ryan has been open about his ongoing struggle with mental health over the years and as a family we are committed to ensuring and encouraging that he receives the necessary help to navigate this very challenging time and address both his immediate and long-term well-being.”

Garcia has also been in headlines for a recent failed drug test that left his last bout as a no contest, while also being arrested for felony vandalism in Beverly Hills that costed a total of $15,000 in damages. There is no timetable for Garcia to resume competing under WBC sanctioned matches.
