All seven nursing faculty members at Dickinson State University resigned last week, just weeks before the fall term.
On Monday, DSU President Steve Easton also announced his resignation in response to the mass faculty departure. “If I cannot do whatever I can for students, including looking for faculty members so they can continue their education, I cannot do my job, because fighting for students is my job,” Easton stated.
Easton’s resignation letter highlighted disagreements between the former nursing faculty and the DSU administration, including conflicts over uniform credit hour production requirements for all faculty programs and restrictions imposed by the North Dakota Board of Nursing on hiring new faculty.
Easton served as DSU president for four and a half years.
