It took all four quarters but Team USA Men’s basketball survived a close one with Serbia defeating them 95-91.
Team USA would find themselves down as much as 17 points late in the game, but the comeback would begin, and the US would come out on top.
Steph Curry would light the spark for Team USA scoring 36 points, going 9-14 from the 3 point line, and collecting 8 rebounds. Joel Embiid would also add to the spark scoring 19 points, with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Team USA Head Coach Steve Kerr noted before the game that the US could not be lulled to sleep from their past success against Serbia, and to be aware if the team hadn’t seen Serbia at full power. Serbia would show up building up to that 17 point lead, but the defense would be the let down being outscored 32-15 in the fourth quarter.
Team USA will play France in the final for the Gold this Saturday, and Team USA will have an interesting test literally standing between them and the gold medal. France features two twin towers at the bottom of the net, 2023 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert, and the 2023 NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama.
