City officials hope to appoint a replacement to fill out an unfilled Jamestown City Council term by or at the Oct. 7 meeting of the council.  Jamestown Mayor Dwaine Heinrich said the seat became open with the resignation of Bob Toso on Aug. 16. Toso cited personal reasons for his resignation.  Toso had been the leading vote getter in a race to fill three positions on the City Council. Incumbents Brian Kamlitz and David Schloegel were returned by the voters to their seats. Also running for a seat was for Pam Phillips, a former City Council member.  Toso replaced Dan Buchanan on the City Council. Buchanan had not sought reelection and died the day before the June 11 city election.
