Kings Picks! Top 5 High School Football Games in North Dakota!

By Ryan King Sep 27, 2024 | 8:43 AM

Another week of High School football has come to the state of North Dakota, and this week brings us another Top 3 matchup in AAA, as well as one team in 9 man trying to bounce their way back into the Top 5 of the class.

Here is my Top 5 Games entering this week:

  1. #1 Bismarck @ #3 Minot (AAA)
  • Bismarck got a little bit of a scare last week at Shanley before busting the game open in second half. Minot has had an up and down season losing key games at home, but winning on the road. Bismarck will travel to Minot tonight trying to keep their #1 spot secure, while Minot will try to defend their homefield and with a win could sneak back into the Top 2 in the state.

2. Hankinson @ #1 Lamoure-LM (9-Man)

  • An intriguing matchup of unbeaten teams entering Friday Night. Lamoure has cruised as the number one team in 9-man, and Hankinson is trying to get into the Top 5 after receiving votes in this weeks polls. Will Lamoure be able to avoid what happened to South Border last week and be able to handle a team with a little bit of pushback? Hankinson, like Lamoure has been defeating opponents in blowout fashion outscoring teams 237-71. A good test for the #1 team in the state tonight.

3. Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm @ #1 Kindred (A)

  • The same question asked last week will be asked this week. Who will slow down Kindred? #2 Central Cass couldn’t get it done at home last week, now it will be undefeated E.E.K’s turn to try to bring down the Vikings. E.E.K. features a good rushing attack that could help in the process of trying to upset Kindred, by controlling the clock and keeping the ball out of their explosive offense’s hands.

4. #5 Central McClean @ South Border (9-Man)

  • South Border was handled last week against Linton HMB, and will look to bounce back at home. In part of the South Border loss last week, Central McClean popped into the #5 spot. This would be a perfect chance for South Border to bounce back into consideration with the 1 loss. And Central McClean could benefit from adding a quality win on their resume going forward.

5. Bismarck Legacy @ #3 Bismarck Century (AAA)

  • Century jumped into the #3 spot after getting a win over West Fargo Sheyenne in overtime last week, and Bismarck Legacy is certainly a team to pay attention too as well. Sharing a similar 3-1 record to Century, the only blemish on Legacy’s resume is a loss to the current #2 team Fargo Davies, who Century’s only loss was to as well. In the cross town matchup, will Century be able to keep their #3 spot? Or will Bismarck Legacy be able to turn some heads and get the upset win, and vault into the Top 5 just like Century did?
