Damian Johnston, a former candidate for local office in the Valley City area, has been arrested for his alleged role in the attack on Congress on January 6, 2021.
The FBI was tipped in September 2023 about Johnston’s involvement. Johnston is charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; two separate disorderly conduct charges; and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol Building.
Johnston is the son of Daniel Johnston, a former Republican state lawmaker who is currently running for a seat in the North Dakota House in District 24.
