Latest US Crop Harvest Progress Report

Last week, U.S. corn and soybean harvests continued to progress ahead of the five-year average, despite rain-related delays and impacts from Hurricane Helene. The USDA reported that 21% of the corn crop is harvested, surpassing the average of 18%. Currently, 64% of the corn is rated good to excellent, slightly down from the previous week, with 96% dented and 75% mature. For soybeans, 26% have been harvested, also ahead of the 18% average, maintaining a good to excellent rating of 64%, with 81% of the crop dropping leaves.

In addition to corn and soybeans, 39% of winter wheat is planted and 14% has emerged, both ahead of normal. Cotton harvest is at 20%, slightly above the typical 16%, but the good to excellent rating dropped to 31%. The overall condition of U.S. pastures and rangelands improved, with 26% rated good to excellent, a 1% increase.
